Item Description
Plumboan calcite, or the greenish colored lead bearing calcite varietal, is RARE from the renowned Tsumeb Mine. Translucent, mint-green botryoids and densely stacked botryoidal columnals have have nubby surfaces and waxy luster. They are dramatically and sculpturally sandwiched in a vug between matrix on this striking and rare, multi-sided, older example from the J.G. Dixon and Tom Wolfe Collections. Rich pinkish-orange SW UV fluorescence. Tsumeb is renowned for calcite diversity and quality and this is certainly a rare and outstanding example of this varietal! The piece probably dates from the 1960s or 70s, or earlier.
