Item Description
Pastel-green Planerite, a rare member of the Turquoise Group, richly covers numerous apple-green to blue-green Wavellite botryoids filling striking vugs in the dramatic large 3-dimensional, sculptural chert matrix on this impressive and colorful RARE combination specimen from this road metal quarry on famous Mauldin Mountain, renowned for world-class wavellite specimens. The botryoids are up to 2.2 cm across and the broken botryoid reveals the distinctive radial growth of the acicular wavellite crystals. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. Combination planerite and wavellite specimens of this size and quality are VERY RARE from this locale.
