Item Description

Pinnoite is a very rare Mg-borate, ususally found in evaporite deposits, salt lakes or salt domes. This rich, sculptural specimen is from the best locality for the species in Kazakhstan. Numerous intergrown radiating nodules of RARE elongated glassy, translucent prisms are embedded in four sides of the sculptural small cabinet of other massive borates. Pinnoite, in crystallized form, for some reason does not occur at the other most famous specimen locales for borates, in the Death Valley, other mines near Boron, California and in Turkey. Rare, old seldom available material obtained from the Fersman Museum in the early 1990s. valued $750
