Item Description
From a recent find, here we have an interesting specimen of pink Quartz that is certainly different from anything we've seen. For reference, this is not specifically Rose Quartz, which has been shown to contain micro fibrous inclusions of Dumortierite, but with that said, this specific material from Peru hasn't been analyzed to the best of our knowledge, so we don't know specifically what is creating the pink color. It's still beautiful material and this particular piece is one of the better examples we've seen featuring a gorgeous three-dimensional group of sharp, lustrous, well-formed hexagonal prisms measuring up to 3.7 cm, with attached matrix on the back. The color is most of a soft pink hue though it does grade into a slight more saturated tone in certain spots. The crystals are in very good shape, and the contacted area on the lower portion of the piece is actually complete re-crystallized ("re-healed"), so it's not damaged. I love the elongated tapered style seen on some of the terminations, very unusual for Quartz as a species. Overall, a very showy and unusual specimen that would make a great addition to any worldwide Quartz suite.
