Item Description
Opal is such an interesting mineral for its diversity in terms of colors and forms and it ranges from essentially opaque to 100% water clear. Not too long ago there was a discovery of some really attractive pink Opal in the Ica Department of Peru. This pieces features semi-botryoidal growths with a gentle, flowing, somewhat ethereal appearance, which combined with the wonderful color make for some an specimen. Additionally, the piece shows a striking neon green fluorescence when exposed to SW UV light, which is caused by a thin layer of Opal-(AN) (formerly Hyalite Opal). When the piece is backlit, it shows a wonderful internal color as well. There were very few of these available when we bought them, and if you're a fan of Opals or Peruvian minerals, be sure to pick this one up.
