Item Description
This superbly balanced miniature specimen is a classic of the French alpine deposits, a competition-quality miniature displays beautifully. The crystal is complete and 3-dimensional, showing all sides as it is perched so amazingly freestanding on the granite matrix. Seldom do you see any goo dlarge crystals on small, well-trimmed matrix. They are hard to collect, and hard to trim later, too. It has SHARP edges on the fluorite, that are 2 cm on edge (almost an inch!). The fluorite is undamaged save for a very tiny chip off the back of the upper tip, not seen from the display side anyhow. The crystal is gemmy and transparent throughout, razor sharp with no sign of the etching or unfortunate chlorite coating (and its removal) that mars so many of these alpine fluorites. You really seldom see such a specimen for sale at any reaosnable price as the strahlers are justifiably proud of them and the ones from old collections tend to go for as much or more. I have seen pieces I value far less, with smaller crystals even, priced for 2000 euros and more at the Munich show.
