Pink Fluorite (fluorescent)

Until these lustrous, translucent, pink fluorites were discovered in Mexico, Peru and the Alps were the only sources for pink fluorite, and the cost of a specimen such as this was (and still is) astronomical from those localities. These translucent octahedrons measure up to a large 2.6 cm and have vivid, deep pink color against the beautifully contrasting white matrix. The bit of periphery wear is certainly only a modest detraction. An excellent, sculptural LARGE CABINET plate. Moderate purple fluorescence.
