Fluorite is one of the most popular mineral species for collectors, primarily because it's found in virtually every color of the rainbow, and often in fine display quality specimens. Of all the colors for the species, it could be said the most sought after and desirable pieces are the beautiful rich pink and red crystals from the European Alps. Pink and red Fluorites from the clefts in Switzerland are among those minerals that reach the highest caliber of beauty and rarity. Fluorite is by no means a rare mineral, but this particular hue is celebrated not only by the strahlers who find them, but also the collectors of European Alpine minerals worldwide. This piece features excellent, beautiful, gemmy, rose-pink color octahedral crystals of Fluorite, measuring up to 1.1 cm, sitting on a matrix composed of cream colored Albite and slightly Smoky colored Quartz. The piece is in great shape overall, with no major damage I can find, only a few small imperfections. A great Alpine treasure, especially from the world-famous Göscheneralp!
