Item Description
These specimens came to us from a good friend who collected them on their claim In Antelope Valley. It is Interestingly to note that the site where these specimens are found is on BLM land that was part of the childhood home of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor - the Lazy B Cattle Ranch - in southeastern Arizona. This near full cabinet sized display specimen is a very eye-catching piece of lovely very soft pink botryoidal Chalcedony that has formed in a lovely banded / layered formation. The surface has a bit of drusy-like crystalline form. I really love the flowing ethereal appearance of the piece which when combined with the semi-botryoidal forms, makes for a unique specimen. I would say the exterior has somewhat of a waxy luster, but it's not dull either, it's somewhere in between. The color and form truly draws one's attention. If you backlight the piece, there is certainly color to be seen inside the piece. For those who collect Quartz and its numerous varieties, or for anybody interesting in colorful specimens from the southwestern United States, don't miss out on this one, it's better than most Chalcedony you'll see on the market, especially from the standpoint of color, form and quality. This is a very rarely seen specimen for what it is, and the historic locality makes it all the more interesting. Valued at $750.
