Item Description

From the find in late Fall of 2005. Here is a great, classic locality specimen of Apatite from Bolivia. This small cabinet size piece features a highly sought after, relatively sharp, pale pink, tabular crystal of Apatite measuring 8 mm associated with GEM quality, prisms of Quartz along with tan Siderite "discs" and even some radiating "balls" of crystallized Marcasite. It must be noted that matrix Apatite specimens from Siglo XX are very difficult to obtain, and this piece was mined in the old, historic Contacto vein in the mine that produced some of the finest phosphate specimens from Siglo XX in the 1940's and 1950's. The Apatite crystal itself is indeed crystallized, as is best seen with a loupe, and not broken as it might appear in the photos. This material is rarely seen in today's market and it is one of the few matrix Apatite specimens I've had from this mine in the auctions. Arguably one of the better pieces of this material that we've offered in the auctions in a while. This material has not been seen in many, many years.
