Item Description
Opal is a mineral that is found all over the world, in every color, and it looks just as attractive in opaque examples as it does in water clear specimens. A good friend in Peru recently brought us a lovely parcel of some newly discovered specimens from the Pisco Province of the Ica Department. These lovely pink specimens are semi-botryoidal in form, with a soft, flowing, almost ethereal appearance. Some pieces also show a lovely fluorescence under SW UV light which is caused by a thin coating of Hyalite Opal (now called Opal-(AN)) in areas. This particular specimen is not only pink, but actually shows a transition in color to a lavender hue, so it's actually a bi-colored specimen! When the piece is backlit, it shows a wonderful internal color. There has been very little of this material on the market and I think it's treally eye-catching and beautiful. If you collect Opals, you have to have one of these in your collection.
