Item Description
A true rarity even among rare species, this is a fine specimen of the Langban mineral, Pinakiolite. Rock Currier, like many SoCal collectors, loved borates - beautiful ones from California and also the ugly rare ones from Langban. While no beauty compared to some species, this is extremely rich for this species and features numerous small black pinakiolites in shimmering manganese rich muscovite mica. Acquired in trade from James Zigras, who got it from a well known Harvard Mineralogical Museum "exchange" by a few East Coast dealers, some time ago in 2006. Valued $1000-plus.
