Item Description
Piemontite is an uncommon member of the Epidote group that dates back to 1758 when it was first described by the Swedish mineralogist, Axel Fredrik Cronstedt. This piece is from the Ultevis locality in Sweden and features sharp, prismatic, lustrous, dark reddish-brown colored crystals measuring up to 6 mm on sitting in open vugs of massive Piemontite matrix. It's more of a reference piece, but Piemontites from Ultevis are virtually unseen in today's market, so if you collect European minerals, specimens from the Epidote group or you have a collection of Swedish minerals, this is a great piece to add to your collection. The piece is from the collection of Colin Manlove, and comes with an old label from Don Schultz.
