Item Description
A hard to find specimen of the rare phosphate species, Phosphosiderite from Galiléia, Brazil. The hand-written label accompanying the piece says it's from the Eduardo Claim, which is actually in Conselheiro Pena, but we're leaving it as Galiléia, since that's where the piece is listed on mindat.org. The piece hosts sharp, lustrous, translucent, striated crystals of Phosphosiderite with a reddish-purple hue measuring to about 2.5 mm, on matrix. The quality is very good for the species and the crystals are best seen with magnification. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased. This piece is pictured on mindat.org at https://www.mindat.org/photo-197469.html
