Item Description

Phosphosiderite was originally called Metastrengite as it is the dimorph of Strengite, and Phosphosiderite was originally described as being orthorhombic, but it turns out that it's actually monoclinic. Some of the best crystallized examples (though micros) are found at the Bull Moose Mine in the Black Hills of South Dakota. This piece comes from an old East Coast collection and is accompanied by a label from recently deceased New York Mineral dealer, Larry Conklin. The piece hosts beautiful reddish colored crystals of Phosphosiderite associated with stark purple colored Strengite on / with grey-black Barbosalite and thin veins of Pyrite. It's a micro specimen, but beautiful to view under magnification. A cool rarity from this historic and mineral-rich area in the US.
