Item Description

Phosphophyllite is one of the most sought after mineral species out there, and for many years has carried the title of being the "Holy Grail" of mineral species. This is due to the fact that the species is the ultimate combination of rarity and beauty in the mineral world in the opinions of the vast majority of dealers and collectors. Around 2010, there was as discovery of some very attractive specimen Phosphophyllites from the Huayllani Mine. These pieces are notably different from the world-famous specimens from the historic Unificada Mine in Potosi, but they are still very eye-catching. These newer specimens have created an opportunity for collectors to pick up a lovely specimen of this highly sought after phosphate. This miniature specimen features exceptionally rare, well-formed, sharp, translucent, light green color, crystals measuring up to 1.1 cm on minor matrix. The best part of the specimen is that nearly all of the Phosphophyllite crystals have formed beautiful "butterfly"-twins, some of which are doubly-terminated. Good quality for the most part, as the majority of the terminations of the crystals are not damaged. There are virtually no specimens of Phosphophyllite on the market these days, so if you've ever wanted one, now is a great time to pick one up for your collection.
