Item Description

A great old time specimen of one of the most beloved phosphates in the world, and the "Holy Grail" of minerals, Phosphophyllite. This piece is not one of the famous Bolivian specimens, but rather from the Type Locality at the Hagendorf North Pegmatite in Bavaria, Germany. This piece hosts a beautiful soft blue-green Phosphophyllite measuring 8 mm on mica matrix. The crystal is not 100% complete, but it's still a very hard to find example of this beloved material. How often does one have the opportunity to purchase a specimen of this highly sought after species from the Type Locality? This piece is from an old East Coast collection, and comes with an historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address it dates to 1946-1957.
