Phlogopite on Calcite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A rarely seen matrix specimen of Phlogopite from Madagascar. The piece was originally labeled as coming from a place called "Vohitrosy", but I can't find a listing for this locality. I'm labelling as coming from
Tranomaro Commune, as I've seen a few of them from this locality over the years. This piece features sharp, well-formed, semi-metallic bronze colored crystals of hexagonal Phlogopite measuring up to 1.7 cm on white rhombic Calcite matrix. Good quality and rarely seen on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2712). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
