Item Description
It's remarkably rare to find 6-inch crystals of any Mica species in good condition, and this is not only a stunning Mica specimen, but also an antique piece dating back approximately 100 years. This is an incredibly large, very well-formed, showy, rich bronze colored group of Phlogopite with textbook thick hexagonal form. The piece is in superb condition overall with no major damage to be seen around the prism faces. You just do not see pieces from Sydenham on the market in any capacity, let alone monster like this weighing in at over 2 kilos! If you're a fan of Canadian minerals or just worldwide Mica specimens, do not miss out on this old remarkable showy display piece from this historic, long extinct Apatite and Mica mine. From an East Coast collection and comes with a faded and stained century-old (ore more) label. The label has the number 1876 hand-written in the corner, but I don't know if this is a catalogue number of possibly the year the piece was found. Valued at $5,000 in the inventory. PLEASE NOTE: This specimen weighs 2,223 grams and will require an additional shipping charge, so please keep this mind when bidding.
