Item Description
Choice, radial clusters of Phillipsite richly populate this small cabinet specimen, from an urbanized area of modern Rome. These clusters average about 4mm across, and the translucent cores provide a lovely contrast to the gemmy, water-clear terminations. They are almost like perfect little ice balls. Adding to the interest and aesthetics are slender needles of Aragonite that are both individual and in fan-like sprays. Formerly in the collection of Robeto Palumbo (who rose to fame nearly 100 years ago as a dealer). These pieces are part of a century-old Italian collection that was recently acquired. Its historic nature, aside from the sheer age of the specimens, is reflected in how dramatically geopolitical borders have changed since these labels were created.
