Item Description
An incredibly hard to find specimen of the Phillipsite Subgroup from the famous Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. This locality is famous for its unique and distinctive columnar basalt formations, that truly look like they were positioned into place to create a geometric pillars and "bridges" over the water on the north coast of Northern Ireland. This piece is the ONLY specimen of the Phillipsite Subgroup that we've had to offer from this locality. It features dozens of sharp, well-formed, lustrous, stark white crystals measuring up to about 4 mm, on basalt matrix. Upon close inspection, we found a TINY "fan"-like spray of a pale golden minerals that looks to be either Heulandite or Clinoptilolite. A really cool locality specimen for any fan of Zeolites or minerals from Northern Ireland / UK.
From the collection of Lee Peterson of Creede, Colorado.
