Item Description
A wonderful specimen of Phillipsite (either Phillipsite-Na or Phillipsite-Ca) from the Palagonia volcanic locality in Sicily. The piece hosts a predominant, white spherical group measuring 1.0 cm across, sitting on volcanic rock matrix. Additional smaller Phillipsites can be seen on the matrix as well. A showy and fine quality example of these lesser-known and hard to find pieces of the rare zeolite species. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased. This piece is pictured on mindat.org at https://www.mindat.org/photo-187222.html
