Item Description
A choice gemmy, sharply, doubly terminated, textbook crystal of phenakite from the classic US locale for gem minerals such as quartz and aquamarine. However, Phenakite from here is very rare, and has always been treasured by collectors. These may be the best American phenakites, and some make superb cut stones as well. This is one of those rare crystals that is a fine thumbnail specimen of competitive quality, because it is sharp and translucent, and dramatic in a display. Most are chalky, white, and not as sharp. The crystal is 2.3 x 2.3 x 1.4 cm. EX: Jingnan (Tom) Zhang collection. Valued $1000.
