Phenakite on Quartz (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Mt. Antero is one of the premier gem Aquamarine localities in North America, but it also has produced some impressive Phenakite crystals over the years. This specimen hosts a handful of sharp, lustrous, well-formed, modified rhombic crystals of white / colorless Phenakite measuring up to 5 mm across sitting on a partial crystal of Smoky Quartz. Most of the Phenakites are in superb condition and look beautiful up close. Classic material from Colorado and rarely available on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8941). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
