Phenakite (old classic) (collected by Ed Over) (ex Willard Wulff Collection)

Mt. Antero is famous for producing some of the finest gem quality Aquamarine crystals from any North American locality. Along with the Aquas, this locality also produces some excellent crystals of Phenakite. This piece is a nice thumbnail specimen of highly sought after Phenakite from this historical locality. The piece is essentially a composite group featuring sharp, lustrous faces with a silvery-white/colorless hue associated with minor tan Microcline and Muscovite Mica. This piece comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. The piece is accompanied by a lovely old typed label from Wulff's collection that states the piece was collected by fellow CSMS founding member and mineral legend, Edwin Over ( https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?colid=586 ). A wonderfully historic piece of this well known material dating back roughly 75-100 years. This is a decent overall piece and a good representation from Mt. Antero, but the fact that it was found by the legendary Ed Over is significant and more than makes the piece worth owning.
