Item Description

Two fetching calcite crystals with subtle phantoms are beautifully set on crusts of sparkly marcasite crystals on this sculptural and aesthetic small cabinet from the famous Sweetwater Mine of Missouri. Both calcites, 7.0 and 2.6 cm long, are translucent with waxy luster faces. The striking dominating large crystal is doubly terminated. Bright light and backlighting reveal that the first generation of amber calcite scalenohedrons has been overgrown by colorless calcite. You can also see tiny marcasite crystals embedded within the calcites. Very nearly pristine, with only a trivial bruise near the tip of the bottom termination. Ex Chad Dalrymple collection of Ardmore, Oklahoma who passed away in 1995. We recently obtained a portion of his collection. He acquired this classic, excellent and showy combination in the 1990s.
