Item Description
Gorgeous rainbow of colors with exotic sculptural form on this impressive large sawed polished section of petrified wood from the Holbrook area of Navajo County, Arizona. This fine specimen is from near the famous Petrified Forest National Park. The petrified wood is from the Triassic-aged Chinle Formation, about 225 MYA. Ex George Loud Collection, a well-known Washington, DC and South Carolina mineral collector. See: https://mineralogicalrecord.com/biographies_labels/george-loud for more information on George. George was gifted the piece from Charles McPherson. We recently acquired most of his impressive over 9000 piece collection. Classic, sculptural and colorful Arizona petrified wood. 1952 grams or 4.3 pounds mass. It looks like a fantastic, colorful, modern art painting.
