Petalite is not often found in gem quality material and even gemmy crystals can be incredibly thin. With that said, the thick / blocky pieces of gem Petalites are rarely crystallized and are often faceted into gemstones. This particular stone is a large and impressive example of this rare material. This "Oval Brilliant" cut gem is completely colorless with a shimmering brilliance that reflects well in any kind of light. The stone is nearly eye clean, and I can only see a few tiny inclusions with a loupe. This material is not easy to facet as it has perfect cleavage and is softer than Quartz, so it takes some skill to cut it. If you collect rare gems this is a great chance to pick up a fine example of this fairly hard to find material from Brazil. Priced at $946.80 retail .
