Item Description

A very hard to find specimen of Perovskite from the Jacupiranga Mine in São Paulo, Brazil (not Minas Gerais) featuring fine quality, rather lustrous, sharp, blocky, orthorhombic (pseudo-cubic), dark brown-black colored crystals measuring up to 7 mm on edge, associated with dark bronzey colored hexagonal crystals of Muscovite on matrix. The crystals look great under magnification, and we've done our best to illustrate the quality with the macro lens. While Perovskite is reported from many Brazilian localities, the Jacupiranga Mine is the only locality where we've actually seen specimens, and this might be the very best one we've had to offer in the auctions. A great piece for any fan of Brazilian minerals or rare locality specimens.
From the collection of Kay Robertson (#9891). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
