Item Description

A cool Perovskite specimen from the famous locality at Magnet Cove, Arkansas. This piece is a good matrix specimen featuring sharp, well-formed, lustrous, pseudo-isometric (orthorhombic) crystals of chocolate brown Pervoskite measuring up to 3 mm on matrix. This piece is labeled as being Dysanalyte, which is a niobian-bearing variety of Perovskite. The piece has excellent crystallization that looks beautiful up close. This species was named after the prominent Russian mineral collector and vice-president of the Appanage Department, Count Lev Aleksevich von Perovski. You don't see a lot of these pieces on the market, and this is a good represenation of this calcium titanium oxide. From an old East Coast collection, and it comes with an historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address, it dates to 1946-1957.
