Perovskite (rare old classic) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A very hard to find specimen of the old classic Perovksites from Zermatt, Switzerland. This piece was only labeled as coming from Zermatt, with no further designation, so if anybody out there can tell us specifically where it might have been found, please let us know. This thumbnail specimen features a very good sized (1.4 cm), semi-metallic, rich brown colored, pseudocubic (orthorhombic) crystal sitting on a thin rib of matrix. The piece is not completely undamaged, as a few sides of the Perovskite are contacted, but it's a BIG crystal for the localty, and impossible to find on the market these days. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9174). It's important to note that Kay's label accompanying the specimen says that it comes with two old labels, but sadly only one remains. Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
