Perovskite et al. (RARE locality specimen) (ex David Burgess Collection)

While Perovskite is reported from many Brazilian localities, the Jacupiranga Mine is the ONLY locality where we've actually seen specimens. This thumbnail sized specimen features small, very well-formed, metallic, lustrous, black crystals of cuboctahedral Perovskite associated with beautiful "sprays" composed of thin needles of green to straw golden colored Richterite along with translucent semi-crystalline green Augite and minor semi-metallic bronze colored Pyrrhotite. This piece is truly beautiful to view under magnification, and is a great example of this INCREDIBLY hard to find material from Brazil. Interestingly, this open pit locality is the namesake for the rock type jacupirangite. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
