Item Description

There are dozens of localities for Perovskite in Italy, and this particular specimen is from the lesser known Rocca Castellaccio locality. This miniature specimen features a 6 mm, sharp, well-formed, orange-brown colored pseudo-cubic (orthorhombic) crystal of Perovskite sitting on white Calcite with minor greenish colored Clinochlore on host rock matrix. The Perovskite is in good shape, though it's not 100% complete. An additional crystal of Perovskite can be seen on the side of the piece. A lot of Perovskite crystals are a dark grey or black hue, so to have a crystal with a lighter color and a bit of internal translucency is certainly desirable. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9257). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
