Item Description

There are dozens of localities for Perovskite in Italy, and this particular specimen is from the Rocca Sella dykes near the city of Torino. This small cabinet specimen features several, sharp, well-formed, dark orange-brown colored pseudo-cubic (orthorhombic) crystals of Perovskite measuring up to 4 mm sitting on etched "waxy" off-white Calcite and green Clinochlore matrix. The Perovskites are in good shape, though they are not all 100% complete. A lot of Perovskite crystals are a dark grey or black hue, so to have a piece with crystals showing a lighter color and a bit of internal translucency is certainly desirable. From the collection of Colin Manlove.
