Item Description

This is a outstanding specimen of Perovskite, with textbook crystal habit, from the Kusinsk Fe-Ti-V-Deposit in Russia. The near-perfect crystals of pseudocubic Perovskite range up to a full 1 cm on edge, and the shiny metallic luster is excellent. Often you see Perovskite crystals with highly modified faces, but the sheer smoothness of these crystals add an extra level of beauty and refinement to the piece. In association with partially oxidized Magnetites up to 1.8 cm, and Clinoclore in the green portions of the matrix. The Zelentsovskaya Pit is close to the type locality, and this very fine small cabinet specimen well-represents the species. Previously in the collection of William Pinch, known for his superb collection of rare species. From the large worldwide collection of historical minerals, of George Elling of New Jersey.
