Item Description

A cool Perovskite specimen from the Type Locality in Russia! This piece is a good matrix specimen featuring sharp, well-formed, lustrous, pseudo-cubic (orthorhombic) crystals of chocolate brown Pervoskite measuring up to 1.3 cm on matrix. The piece has the classic crystallization with slightly skeletal faces on the surface and a slight "waxy" luster. This species was named after the prominent Russian mineral collector and vice-president of the Appanage Department, Count Lev Aleksevich von Perovski. You don't see a lot of these pieces on the market, and this is a good represenation of the first ever known specimens of this calcium titanium oxide.
