Peridot on coated Peridot with Magnetite

Six, classic lime-green, lustrous, translucent Forsterite variety Peridot crystals with sharp chisel/wedge terminations dramatically stand out against the RARE, striking and sculptural large matrix of starkly contrasting, parallel-growth, bone-white clay-coated Peridot crystals from well-known Sapat Gali of Pakistan. The large perched peridot is 3.3 cm long. A fine BONUS are the scattered etched, magnetic Magnetite dodecahedrons on the back side, to 8 mm. The piece is very nearly pristine, with only a modestly bruised end to the large isolated, perched peridot crystal. Multi-crystal peridot specimens are uncommon from Sapat Gali. Most pieces are loose single crystals. The matrix of essentially solid coated peridot crystals makes this specimen VERY RARE. Primary production was from 1994 until about 2010, with very little new material in the last 10 years. Sapat Gali peridot specimens are certainly among the finest examples of the species in the world. See the 2020 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 51, No. 6. You cannot just go buy large matrix specimens of this material not because of money limits, but because they simply do not really exist in quantity.
