Item Description

Here we have a fantastic, unique, custom-cut Peridot gem from this famous and important locality in Arizona. Peridot has been known for many centuries, and even though it is not really considered a rare gem, it should be noted that fine gem grade material is really only found in a few places around the world. Several decades back, a good amount of some of the finest and most well-known gem quality Peridot stones came from the San Carlos Indian Reservation in Arizona. Keep in mind that the majority of the world's supply of gem quality Peridot (especially before anything came out of Pakistan or Myanmar) came from this locality. These wonderful and highly sought after stones are well known for their vibrant green color and great clarity. Most of the stones you'll see from this locality are under 1 carat in weight, so this gem is VERY good sized for what it is. The stone has a beautiful glow yellow-green hue, and is virtually eye-clean to boot, but what really makes it special is the fact that it has a "Fantasy" cut. This style of cutting is where the underside/pavilion/culet area of the gem has actually been carved to create beautiful geometric patterns, freeform designs or unique shapes that are seldom seen in any colored stones on the market today. The gem was cut by Brett Kosnar, who is a 4-time AGTA Spectrum Award winning gem cutter. It's truly a superb stone that would make for a stellar center stone in a piece of jewelry or as an addition to a gemstone collection. If you know someone with an August birthday, this stone would make an outstanding gift. The San Carlos stones are by far the most famous and finest quality Peridot gems from any locality in North American, and quite possibly the Western Hemisphere, and a one-of-a-kind gem like this is something that you almost never seen on the market. Valued $2,490.00 retail.
