Item Description
From the ancient locality for peridot, this is a sharp and relatively huge crystal of peridot with the amazing combination of lime green color AND sharp termination, translucency, and complete-all-around style. This is a competitive worthy small cabinet specimen that leaps out of the shelf. It is not just representative, but significant. Most large crystals are rounded, or opaque, or rough - a specimen this quality is incredibly rare. No repairs. There are a few tiny teeny restorations (back of termination). This is a whopping 153 grams, and quite hefty and obviously important. It is valued $12,000-15,000. This specimen is anonymously donated to the 2023 Dallas Mineral Collecting Symposium benefit auction, with proceeds benefiting Mineralogical Record, Rocks & Minerals, Tucson Gem and Mineral Society, and mindat.org.
