Pentagonite w/ Calcite

This showy and excellent pentagonite thumbnail looks like a branching blue Christmas tree accented with numerous tiny water-clear calcite rhombs, that look like ornaments! The gorgeous color is either an electric teal-blue or a blue-blue. When crystals were found, they were thought to be cavansite, but recent work has proven them to be the orthorhombic dimorph, pentagonite, which is much rarer than cavansite. The bit of matrix adds character. Individual crystals reach nearly 1 cm in length. They are extremely lustrous and gemmy. Broken ends, lower on the piece, have minimal impact to the aesthetics and quality of this piece. Valued at $950.
