Item Description
Pentagonite is well-known from Wagholi, but the species is still quite rare around the world despite the fact that you can still find good examples at shows from India. Undoubtedly the very finest Pentagonite specimens in the world are found at this locality. This piece features a lovely, 2.0 cm, intense neon blue color "spray" of Pentagonite aesthetically perched atop a layer of micro Heulandite crystals on basalt matrix. There are a few contacts, so the Pentagonite aggregate is not completely damage free, but the incredible color combined with the fact that these are the finest Pentagonites in the world makes it a fairly worthwhile specimen. Since there are so many specimens of Indian zeolites (and associated minerals) on the market, they do not get the recognition they deserve for incredibly fine quality and in a lot of cases the best crystallized examples of their respective species. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
