Item Description
Desirable pretty pink pectolite botryoids along with contrasting glassy, translucent mint-green prehnite crystals line a sculptural vug in basalt matrix on this colorful and excellent small cabinet combination from the well-known Millington Quarry. The large spheroid is 2.0 cm. Scattered tiny iridescent pyrite cubes are a fine accessory. The mesmerizing chatoyant "fans" of the broken balls adds much pizzazz to the piece and reveals the radial growth of the pectolite needles. This famous Trap Rock quarry opened in 1895 and closed in 2007. "The mineralized zone has now been removed, and the pit is currently being refilled with trucked in rock and dirt, for a future housing development." (MINDAT). Classic and choice pink pectolite with prehnite from the locale.
