An impressive and desirable 3.3 cm pretty pink compound pectolite ball dominates this very showy combination from the well-known Millington Quarry. A sprinkling of tiny brassy pyrite cubes and a glassy cluster of tiny intergrown calcite rhombs on the ball add character. The mesmerizing chatoyant "fans" of the broken balls adds much pizzazz to the piece and reveals the radial growth of the pectolite needles. Broken sections of olive-green prehnite crystals are a typical association. This famous Trap Rock quarry opened in 1895 and closed in 2007. "The mineralized zone has now been removed, and the pit is currently being refilled with trucked in rock and dirt, for a future housing development." (MINDAT).
