Item Description

Striking chatoyant opposing sprays of silky lustre, bone-white pectolite lathes form a sculptural and dramatic small cabinet from this historic and exctinct old diabase-basalt quarry, where collecting is now prohibited. Pectolite is a member of the Wollastonite Group and is the calcium analogue of Serandite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1942 and acquired from Scott Williams in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). This is an excellent, uncommon and rich example from the locale.
