Item Description

A VERY RARE form of Pectolite from this well-known extinct gabbro-diabase quarry, now on the site of a nature reserve where collecting is strictly prohibited (MINDAT). Densely intergrown windowpanes of gemmy, colorless pectolite are aesthetically accented by a 8 mm bladed, mint-green prehnite ball. Most specimens from any locality are spherical aggregates of radiating lathes or elongated prisms. Pectolite is a Wollastonite Group species and is the calcium analogue of Serandite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2297 and acquired from Scott Williams in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A remarkable and rare pectolite combination thumbnail from this locale.
