Item Description

Prospect Park is one of the most classic U.S. localities, and many east coast collectors recognize the specimens from the quarry as being some of the most recognizable and unique pieces from the New Jersey Trap Rocks. This particular specimen specimen consist of a "velvety", radiating spherical aggregates of beige colored Pectolite measuring up to 1.3 cm with blue-grey Babingtonite (altering to Pyroxene) plus Prehnite on Quartz on basalt. The most impressive aspect of this specimen is the fact that it features isolated, COMPLETE spheres of Pectolite which is very rare to find from the New Jersey Trap Rock quarries. Most Pectolite from New Jersey forms in intergrown radiating aggregates, and most of "spheres" are either buried so only a small amount of the surface is showing, or they're contacted and broken, so to find a solitary undamaged sphere of Pectolite aesthetically sitting on matrix is a unique occurrence. A great Trap Rock display specimen from this significant New Jersey locality.
