Peach Opal

Recently there was a good find of this classic Peruvian Pink Opal and I was happy to get my hands on some of these gems. Now these stones are almost always opaque, rarely translucent, but the colors exhibited in these gems make them very desirable for collectors. Considering all the varieties and colors of Opal in the world, pink is not terribly common, and this stone has an even less common PEACH color, that I have only seen in a handful of stones from Peru. The Peruvian gems are some of the finest I have seen for consistency of color in good sized stones. This "Cushion" cut gem is slightly translucent around the edges, and shows a lovely light peach color, not unlike peach sorbet.
