Item Description
Pascoite is a rare secondary hydrated Ca-V-oxide species occurring as a leachate of near-surface vanadium oxides by ground waters and as efflorescences in mine tunnels. This obscure vanadium mine is the Type Locality and is also the Type Locality for 7 other rare species (MINDAT). Bright rich orange crusts richly cover two sides of the sculptural sulfide ore matrix. The species is EXTREMELY RARE from this Type Locality, as the MINDAT photo gallery of the mine does not feature an example. The hefty sufide ore may be patronite, vanadium sulfide, another rarity for which the Ragra Mine (Minasragra) is the Type Locality. Older, very rare material from the Paterson Museum Collection, where it was on display.Value? We have simply not seen others for sale, to comment on that.
