Item Description

A very rare, very large, sharply tapering, 2.6 cm, parisite crystal from the Snowbird Mine of Montana is dramatically set in ivory-colored calcite. This complete crystal has moderate to flashy luster and classic pseudohexagonal form. The lower portion of the crystal appears to be contacted, with a bit of bruising. Smaller parisites are noted on the back of the calcite. Parisite is a rare, rare-earth carbonate and the Snowbird Mine is a rare earth pegmatite. In RARE association, lustrous, purple fluorite lines a bench on the right side of the calcite. OLD, RARE, seldom seen combination material, with most production in 1955-56. This is a excellent, large specimen for the mine. Valued $750.
