Item Description
Parisite-(Ce) is not found in many world localities in fine display specimens, and the rarely seen examples from the Snowbird Mine in Montana are some of the best and largest crystals ever seen. This miniature specimen features several, slender, deep reddish-brown prismatic Parisite-(Ce) crystals measuring up to about 1.3 cm. on matrix. Most of the crystals are contacted in spots, so the piece is no damage free, but it's a decent reference specimen from this lesser known mine in northwest Montana (between Missoula and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho). The mine was worked for Fluorite for a short time during the 1950s, but arguably it's best known for its Parisite-(Ce) specimens. These are very few and far between on the market now. From the collection of Colin Manlove.
